Modeling in Precalculus Workshop
June 15-17, 2021
Mathematical modeling can engage students as active learners, fostering curiosity and inviting them into the mathematics conversation. Join us as we explore the modeling process through rich precalculus modeling tasks. We will share classroom-ready materials and resources aligned with the NC Precalculus standards. This virtual workshop is open to all North Carolina mathematics teachers interested in incorporating mathematical modeling into their Precalculus courses and will be led by NCSSM math faculty (Kevin Ji) and faculty emerita (Maria Hernandez).
Synchronous Workshop Hours (through Zoom): 12:30-3:30 PM from 6/15 through 6/17 .
For More Information: Feel free to email Kevin Ji at firstname.lastname@example.org or Maria Hernandez at email@example.com
Unfortunately, we have reached capacity for the Summer 2021 Workshop.
Math Modeling Activities
Help your students navigate the modeling process through a variety of real world problems.
Technology in the Classroom
We will explore how to use technology to give students an opportunity to build a deeper understanding of various math concepts.
With a focus on amplifying student voice, we will explore strategies that foster and promote student growth in the areas of math modeling, reasoning and sense-making, communication, and collaboration.
