Math tutoring takes place during flex time each Tuesday and Thursday afternoons (3:15 - 4:15). Flex time tutoring is in Goodwin 3210.

Landon Pierron
Hi my name is Landon Pierron, and I am looking forward to being a math TA this year. I've taken some great math courses at NCSSM and am excited to help others learn math too! Two things I really enjoy are acting and playing tennis.

Lawson Taylor
Hi! My name is Lawson Taylor, and I will be a math TA this year. The highest level of maths I have taken are AP Calculus BC and AP Statistics. In my free time, I like playing sports. Specifically, I like playing basketball, soccer, and golf. I am excited to help anyone who needs it in a variety of different math this year.

Elyz Katz
Hey, I'm Elyz! I enjoy all things related to math and am excited to be part of the first generation of Math TAs here in Morganton. I recently completed calculus here, almost certainly aced the AP Calc BC exam, and plan on taking higher level math courses during the 2023 - 2024 school year. I'm also one of the founding members of the math club here, have dabbled in competitive math, and won the inaugural Integration Bee composed of NCSSM students (see picture). I also enjoy just learning in general, but primarily about programming/computer science, math, and physics, and playing both the piano and clarinet. Hope to satisfy everybody's mathematical needs next year!

Brad Bailey (He/They)
Hi, I’m Brad! I have loved math virtually since I learned about it. In particular, I find the fields of probability and non-euclidean geometry fascinating. I also enjoy teaching other people, hence why I gravitated towards this position. In addition to math, I enjoy watching soccer (Go Leeds United!) and playing chess in my free time. Elaine Shi (She/Her)
Hey everyone! I’m Elaine, and I’m really excited to become a Math T.A.! A little about me, I have always found math a very interesting and fascinating subject. I like to help others understand math and challenge myself further by things not limited to competing in math competitions. I love a good math challenge or riddle where I can learn all the possible ways to solve it. Outside of math, and learning in general, I love playing music (violin and piano), performing arts, swimming, reading mystery books, taking photos, and hanging out with my friends! Vincent Wang (He/Him)
Hi, I'm Vincent and I'm happy to be a math TA. I like math, particularly competitive math. I placed second at the 2023 North Carolina State Comprehensive Math Contest, qualified for the American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME) three times, and received the AMC 10A Distinguished Honorable Mention. Geometry is objectively the best subject of ACNG. Outside of math, I like to run cross country, weightlift, play piano, and unfortunately waste time watching YouTube.
