Veronica Vazquez

Veronica studied ecology and wildlife biology before pivoting into education and mathematics. She has taught mathematics for 20 years primarily in independent schools in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. She has been at NCSSM since 2018. Her interests include cryptography, ethnomathematics, and combinatorics. 


What is something you enjoy about teaching at NCSSM?

"My colleagues are creative, enthusiastic, and devoted to continuously improving their teaching and incorporating new technology and new ideas into their practice. It is energizing to work along side the teachers in the math department."

Math is ancient! The Ishango bone, found in central Africa, proves that prehistoric humans were counting AT LEAST 20,000 years ago.
