Tracy White
Tracy White joined NCSSM in August 2021 as an instructor of mathematics. She has been an educator since 2000, and has taught mathematics at both the secondary and collegiate level, most recently at Winston-Salem State University. During her doctoral program, she presented at several conferences, including the North Carolina Council of Teachers of Mathematics Annual State Math Conference; the Annual Distinguished, Intellectual, Virtuous Academic Sistas Conference; and the Conference of the International Group for the Psychology of Mathematics Education in Vancouver, Canada. Her research is published in Teaching and Teacher Education, Teaching Children Mathematics, the Journal of Technology Studies, and Studies in Teaching 2001 Research Digest. She was a member of the UNC System Math Pathways for African American Collegiate Transformation Task Force and the UNC System Math Pathways Task Force. She seeks to build rapport with students in an environment where diversity is not only accepted, but acknowledged and discussed and to cultivate critical thinkers by utilizing discourse to engage students in their learning.
